Directions:

This assignment will teach you the basic structure of a business letter and, of course, how to write good one. However, the topic of your letter is the fun part. Using the online "Letter Generator", write and print out a fictitious business letter to a real or made-up company in the style of the letters in the wild book, "Letters from a Nut".(see samples below)

The idea is to make yourself sound a little crazy by making a ridiculous request, asking a crazy question or perhaps make a strange complaint to a company. You can use a real company (Motel 6, Milton Bradley, Adidas, etc), or make up your own. (either way--make up the company's address).

Before submitting your work to me, be sure that your business letter:

  • has a clear complaint, question, or request for the company.
  • tells the company what you expect them to do about it.
  • is brief and gets to the point.
  • is organized into the correct parts; (please label each part with a pen or pencil).
  • has no errors in sentencing, punctuation, and capitalization.
