Topic: Inventions (20 points/Limit one per student)
 
Step 1: Visit MIT's "Inventor of the Week" Archive and select a category of inventions--here's the link--Inventor Archive .
Step 2: Choose an invention that interests you and print it for reading.
Step 3: Write at least two paragraphs summarizing what you learned about the inventor and his/her invention.
 
Include the following in your paragraphs:
1) Explain how or why the invention came to be
2) Explain how the invention has helped people-- possibly including you or someone you know.
3) Read your paragraph to the class (if time permits)

Drafting your response in a program such as Microsoft Word first may be helpful for spell/grammar checking--then simply copy/paste.
