I generally have three (3) basic rules for
my classroom:
- Be Respectful
- Be Responsible-- "on time and ready
to learn"
- Be Helpful
Along those lines, here's what I think a student
learning in my classroom SHOULD do:
- Work quietly so that others will not be distracted
- Listen to and follow my directions.
- Focus your attention on your work.
- Turn in homework consistently.
- Know when and where to get help and materials.
- Work in the proper place.
- Keep records & journals up to date.
- Take care of materials in the room. Put them
away when you are finished
Consequences for Misbehavior:
If a student chooses to misbehave, the following
consequences may apply:
- A "warning" at my discretion--some
student actions get NO warning--and are dealt with immediately.
(ex. foul language)
- A "punch" in your Star Privilege
Card (where you may lose out on the enjoyable team events)
- An assigned seat away from the group(s) where
you are asked to sit quietly. (your seat may be the hallway)
- Eat with me at lunch
- Afterschool detention
- A phone call home to parent/guardian
- A parent, team, and/or principal conference
held with you as guest speaker.
Final Comments: (...a warning, if you will.)
I've always considered myself to be quite fair
and patient, so many of you are in for an easy, enjoyable ride.
However, my patience vanishes quickly if a student or students
prevents me from teaching and, therefore, students from learning.
