- Student Guidelines:
- write all homework assignments and
due dates in your assignment book clearly and accurately
- show pride in your work
- be neat and accurate
- all homework must include a heading
- it is your responsibility to have your
completed homework in class, on time.
Student Consequences:
- all work is required to be completed.
Full credit can be earned for homework turned in on time.
- homework turned in 1 day late can earn
"late points" which can be no more than a "C"
- STAR cards may be punched as
a penalty for uncompleted assignments--at my discretion
- no credit will be given for homework
more than 1 day late
Students who play a musical instrument:
- are to turn in their homework and get
their assignment before leaving for lessons
- are responsible for making up classwork
and/or missed instruction
Students who are absent should: (if they are feeling well enough)
- call a reliable friend for the missed
assignments
- get some of the work done
- contact me upon their return to find
if they've missed instruction of a new concept
Homework Frequency and Duration:
- independent reading is assigned homework
seven (7) days a week -- they should read five (5) books
each quarter
- there will be occasional weekend homework
- using effective time management skills,
the completion of daily English 7 homework should take up to
30 minutes maximum--including long term projects and independent
reading
- students who choose to take music/sports
and have no in school resource period are still expected to complete
their homework
Homework Guidelines for Parents/Guardians:
- present a positive attitude toward
homework
- schedule homework as a priority in
your family routine
- ask your child to explain their homework
to you
- provide an appropriate location conducive
to study
- please
do not do your child's homework, but be available to review the
work with your child
- praise your child's efforts when appropriate
- encourage your child to be responsible--you
don't have to bring their homework to them if they
forget it at home.
- I believe homework can:

for long term projects
- be a vital link between school and
home
